Pengwyn's GWENDOLYN   "Libby"

North American Junior Field Hunter Championships:

Reserve Champion Hilltopper Division 2006

4th Place First Flight Division 2008

I have known Libby since the winter of 2004.  She originally came to me for  training and since then, I have seen her through her last three homes.

I have watched all three children blossom in their confidence and love for riding as a result of this pony’s wonderful nature and usefulness.

She has brought so much confidence to her young riders and they are all sad that they have outgrown her.

I originally introduced her to hunting in the fall of 2005, where she took to it like a natural--great with hounds and a super jumper. Since then she was campaigned in the local show world and won many ribbons.

She has been a confidence builder for her current 12 year old owner who was learning to move up to the first flight in the hunt field.

Although lazy in the ring (yet one of her owners showed her just about every weekend and took her to VHSA Associate Finals!) Libby excels as a hunt pony.

She hunted a full season, first flight, in 2008-2009 with the Piedmont Foxhounds and qualified again in November 2008 for the North American Junior Field Hunter Championships, this time in the first flight group, and placed Fourth overall.

This pony is very special and we are hoping to find her a home in time for the 2009-2010 hunt season.

Getting fit for hunting!

'Libby' is an extremely quiet, honest, & easy going 13.1H, steele grey, 6 year old, registered VPBA(Virginia Pony Breeders Association) mare. Her sire is the infamous Pengwyn, know for his great disposition, for which he has passed every bit of his sense down to this mare. She has been hunting every week since the season began with the Middleburg Orange County Beagles carrying a 10 year old.

She won Reserve Champion at the Junior North American Field Hunter Championships this year and has no vices or 'holes'. This mare is bombproof and she is fantastic around hounds. She is also a super cute jumper and fancy enough to do the A shows. She is sensible enough for a lead liner but talented enough to hunt first flight. She also is one that does not need to be ridden every day to remain sane.

She is just naturally good natured. Great on crossties for grooming & gentle even around the smallest children. Super pony for all children in the family.
